Special Features

1. Optimal balance between theory and practice in developing future professionals in sport, leisure, and hospitality management. Based on the core objectives, we have designed courses on fundamental theories, offered industry-academia courses through collaboration with the industry, and provided students with internship opportunities to develop their academic literacy and gain workplace experience, thereby enhancing their proficiency and skills in various domains for future employment.

2. Broaden students’ horizons through frequent international academic exchanges. Our institute organizes international academic activities on a regular basis. In addition to our annual International Conference of Sport, Leisure and Hospitality Management, we have also maintained a strong relationship with Japan’s Yamagata University and Macau’s Institute for Tourism Studies. We have also successfully facilitated the dual-degree agreement between the College of Sports and Recreation at NTNU and the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management at the University of South Carolina, thus enabling students to obtain master’s or doctoral degrees in the US through the former’s recommendation. To enhance cultural exchange, we have also welcomed and recruited international students from all over the world, including Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, and more.

3. Facilitate students’ diversified career paths through prolific industry-academia collaboration projects. In response to the booming industry, we make every effort to develop students’ global perspectives and equip them with the professional qualifications they need for their future careers. Our faculty members extensively introduce external resources to deepen our industry-academia collaboration. To enhance their professional and practical skills in analysis, students are welcome to participate in their faculties’ research teams and conduct projects that are funded by various departments in the public sector, including the National Science and Technology Council, the Sports Administration in the Ministry of Education, the Youth Development Administration in the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency in the Ministry of Agriculture and more. Furthermore, our collaboration programs with both international chains and local business, such as W Taipei, South Garden Hotels and Resorts, Kanpai Group, Cathay Hospitality Management, Shin Yeh Restaurant Group, Courtyard by Marriott Taipei, Phoenix Tours, Lion Travel, and Wu Dong Yang Guang, have also provided students with competitive internships and facilitated their direct access to industry leaders and entrepreneurs.

4. Foster students’ development through a strong and dedicated faculty and abundant teaching resources. Our full-time faculty members have not only earned their doctoral degrees from prestigious universities in Taiwan, Japan, the US, and Europe, but also possess abundant practical experience in their fields. They devote their time and energy to their research and their students’ education with great enthusiasm. Furthermore, many of them have received Distinction in Teaching and Excellent in Teaching Awards, with several serving as distinguished professors. Moreover, we are devoted to creating a desirable learning environment through diversified teaching resources and research materials.

Our Vision

1. We lay a solid and professional foundation for the fields of sport, leisure, and hospitality management by integrating relevant research with the features of these industries. 

2. We will continue to strengthen international academic exchange in order to promote future research in sport and leisure studies in Taiwan.

3. We will enhance the quality of Taiwan’s sport, leisure, and hospitality management in accordance with national developments.
