Special Features

1. Cultivate professionals in sport, leisure and hospitality management through the well-grounded educational system emphasizing both theoretical and practical knowledge. Based on the core objectives, we’ve planned fundamental theoretical courses along with industry-academia lectures through collaboration with the industry and provided students with internship opportunities to develop their academic literacy and workplace experience, as well as equip them with the proficiency and skills required in the future.

2. Broaden students’ horizons through highly active international academic exchange. Our institute has been holding international academic activities on a regular basis persistently; in addition to the annual international conference, we also maintain intensive interactions with Japan’s Yamagata University and Macau’s Institute for Tourism Studies. Moreover, we assisted the College of Sports and Recreation in signing the joint dual-degree program agreement with the University of South Carolina, enabling students to study for a master’s/doctoral degree in the USA through the college’s recommendation. To enhance cultural exchange, we also welcome and recruit international students from all over the world, including students from Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, etc.

3. Develop diversified career paths for students through multiple university-industry collaboration projects. In response to the booming industry, we make every effort to build up the students’ global perspective and to equip them with the professional qualifications for future careers. We have had plentiful collaboration with the industry and introduced abundant external resources. Students are welcome to participate in the faculty’ research teams and conduct projects funded by various departments of the public sectors, including Ministry of Science and Technology, Sports Administration of Ministry of Education, Youth Development Administration of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Forestry Bureau of the Council of Agriculture of Executive Yuan, etc. Meanwhile, collaboration programs with the enterprises of both international chains and local startups, such as South Garden Hotels and Resorts, KANPAI Group, Cathay Hospitality Management, SHIN YEH Restaurant Group, and Courtyard by Marriott Taipei, have also provided students with competitive internships and enabled them to have direct accesses to industrial leaders and entrepreneurs.

4. Competitive faculty team and abundant teaching All of our full-time teachers own doctoral degrees from top universities in Taiwan, Japan, the United States, and European countries and possess abundant practical experience. They have devoted time and spirit to research in relevant fields and students’ learning with great enthusiasm, with many of them having received Distinct Teaching Awards and Excellent Teaching Awards and two of them honorably hired as distinguished professors. Moreover, to create a desirable learning environment, we have purchased abundant and diversified teaching resources and research materials.
